The Peak District of Derbyshire is a very beautiful area. It is divided into two very different landscapes, called the Dark Peak and the White Peak.
The Dark Peak's underlying rock is millstone grit. This stone weathers into marvellous edges, like Stanage Edge, and leaves natural sculpures such as Robin Hood's Stride. The area is fantastic for rock climbing, bouldering and walking
The White Peak's main rock is limestone. The features created in this area include the gorges of Lathkill Dale and Monsal Dale, the cliffs around Stoney Middleton. It is an excellent area for many outdoor sports including caving.
There is nowhere in Britain quite like the Peak District. I hope these images evoke some of the magic of the area.
